Family therapy is an effective tool for families struggling to communicate effectively. When working with children I often use family therapy to address the child's behavior's within the family system. I incorporate all family members using experimental techniques.

When working with children I approach the counseling process from the developmental level of the child. I employ a variety of approaches with children and strive to develop strategies that are appropriate for the child's developmental level. I primarily use play based interventions when working with school-aged children and younger pre-school aged children. I believe that play is the child's natural language and this is where they can work through complex emotions such as disappointment, guilt, and shame. Along with play based interventions, there are a variety of other activities as well as experiential techniques that I use when working with children. Sand Tray therapy is one of these interventions. Sand Tray is a technique in which clients create a picture in the sand and then process what that picture means to them. This technique is often effective with adolescents and adults.
